Search for Newspaper Articles:
Newspapers cover current events and contain both descriptive news stories and editorials that include individuals' opinions on current events. Newspaper articles are usually written by professional journalists who are not experts in the areas they write about, but they usually do considerable research and/or interview the people involved for each story. Newspapers are also considered a primary source.
Newspapers provide:
-
Coverage of current or very recent events
-
Eyewitness accounts of an event
-
In-depth coverage of local issues (in local or regional newspapers)
-
The public's reaction to a specific event or issue (especially useful for historical events)
-
The media's current portrayal, or portrayal over time, of a specific issue
You can read many newspapers on the open Web, but some now have paywalls for older issues, or if you read more than a certain number of articles in a month. You can get access to many newspapers online through the KCC Library. If you need to find a specific newspaper, look at KCC’s catalog or databases.
If you have any questions about accessing newspaper sources, please contact your librarian.
